Team 5298 – the E-TECH Chargers – was founded in 2013, in the first year of their school’s development.  Team 5298 is based at Energy Tech, an Early College Initiative (ECI) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school serving students in grades 9-14.  Energy Tech is an innovative model and is a full partnership between the City University of New York, the New York City Department of Education, LaGuardia Community College, Con Edison, and National Grid.  Over the course of a 6-year experience, students have the opportunity to earn not only a NYS high school diploma but also an associate degree free of cost and a range of career-ready experiences and credentials.  The team and school are located in the vibrant community of Long Island City, Queens.

Team 5298 has come a long way since 2013, growing from only a handful of participants to a team of over 30, with several mentors from our school staff, partnerships, families, and community.  We compete in NYC Regional competitions through FIRST Robotics, and we additionally enjoy attending local events throughout the year.  Check out our blog and social media accounts for more up-to-date information about what’s happening on Team 5298.
